NEW WAKEFIELD STREET
Allied Developments Ltd - Hodder + Partners
Stirling prizewinning architects Hodder + partners approached Arc to create series of photomontage visuals and accurate verified views (VVMs) to support their proposal for a 37-storey skyscraper scheme near Oxford Road station in Manchester city centre. The tower, should it be built, would be the city's second tallest residential building, second only to the Beetham Tower on Deansgate.
Given the height of the proposed scheme and its landmark location, the planning authority was keen to see specific views from the main gateways to the city. Six original viewpoints were requested during early discussions with planning officer who agreed the principle of a 37-storey property. In addition, however, Manchester City Council brought in the influential Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment as non-statutory consultee to assess the quality of the scheme. Following CABE's request for more detailed information on the elevational treatment and materials, Arc produced a series of additional, detailed images to demonstrate the design quality of the elevations. |
